Spa Private Medical aims to offer a broader medical service to local businesses and business people. Individuals and their companies periodically have specific medical needs and whilst we do not offer an official 'Occupational Health Physician', our doctors have a wealth of experience in dealing with work-related assessments.
For individuals who have been asked to undergo a medical prior to employment or for companies needing to find doctors to perform these medicals, this will usually involve a standard consultation fee but if additional, specific tests or investigations are required (eg Chest Xray or electrocardiogram) these will incur additional charges. We would be happy to discuss prices if a company required a large number of medicals to be done.
Occasionally the health of an employee becomes a matter of concern for his/her employers. Sometimes an independent medical opinion can be helpful to both parties. Please contact us to discuss requirements.
It is now almost a certainty that when applying for any form of higher insurance (eg Life insurance and Income Protection Insurance) that the insurers will require an independent medical examination to be performed. If you are the insurer or broker please contact us and we will arrange a medical examination on your behalf. If you are the client and are having difficulty in finding a local doctor to undertake the examination (usually the insurers require that the doctor is NOT your usual GP), ask your broker and then contact us. Please note the fee is normally paid by the insurance company. Ensure you bring the relevant forms with you or that they are posted/emailed to us directly.
Many categories of driver are legally obliged to have periodic medical examinations. This includes HGV, PSV and Taxi drivers and is partly dependent upon the driver’s age and category of vehicle. Many NHS GPs charge well in excess of £100 for such exams but we charge £70. We have extensive experience of undertaking such medicals and Dr Pierini is in fact one of Gloucestershire's official DVLA doctors.
Drivers obliged to have a medical examination after disqualification can contact us for a prompt appointment - you don't have to live within the local area; just let DVLA know of your choice & they can fax us your paperwork.
Further information can be found under the DVLA medical page and for those needing a D4 form you can download it here. (Cheltenham, Tewkesbury & other local Councils use the D4 for Taxi medicals, too). The ML5 can be downloaded here. We WILL need a brief summary (ask for a visit printout) of your medical notes from your NHS GP for taxi medicals, as the councils will not pass you without us seeing these. This Consent Form will help us to get hold of your medical records' summary.
